The first one is that the phone takes ages to load all the homescreens (and I only use two of them) and to be fully operational. After that is done the phone is still very unresponsive and laggy. Just opening the main menu takes several seconds.
The second one is the app's inability to find files stored on my device. I did a test search for mp3s stored on my N8, but not one of several hundred was found. I was hoping this app would include that feature, since the search app that comes pre-installed on the N8 lost that ability with one of the firmware updates.
I have to remove the app, since the phone is in no way usable, if it's that slow.

Had the same experience, my N8 became slow and buggy. swipe through homescreens stucked, no screen response, it was horribly. another thing is that search does not include files on memory card (where most of music & video files are)

What is the name of the app in the app manager? Want to remove it...

ok found the name myself: search ;-)
now after uninstalling the search app the phone runs again in normal condition...

@DaFlo @marwallace: Thank you for your feedback. Which version of Search did you install? This is a known bug in previous Universal Search versions which we have worked to resolve. Could you check to see if there are other Search applications installed already on your device? There may be some interference by another search application already installed on Symbian Anna.

i only have the normal search intalled (anna) - when i open this it tells in info version 2.39.193. where should i find additional search apps on the device?
regarding the beta labs search app: i installed the new version ...188 on last friday because i was not invited before...
let me think: do you mean the search app that came with anna is newer then the one you posted here in beta labs ???????

The only search app I have installed at the moment is the one that comes with Anna and is not removable or replaceable (version 2.39.193)
According to the installation log on my N8 I installed Search (version 2.39.188) last Thursday.
I have never used any other search applications whatsoever on my phone.

@marwallace: Thank you for the details. The Anna version 2.39.193 is actually a non-web enabled Search app, so the best version to use to see full functionality is the Beta Labs version (2.39.188). Apologies for the confusion!
